How to run and call a bingo game

A host's checklist for custom-word bingo: what to print, how to call, how to check winners, and how to keep a large group on track.

Calling

  1. Draw one item at random, read it clearly and repeat it once. For vocabulary games, read the clue or definition instead of the word.
  2. Tick it on the caller sheet or set the slip aside in the order you called it.
  3. Leave enough time for everyone to look. Young children need more time than adults.
  4. When someone calls "Bingo!", ask them to read their winning squares back. Compare each one with your ticked items.

Checking a winner quickly

Ask for the card number printed at the bottom. Read the winning line out loud and check each item against the caller sheet. If one item hasn't been called, the game goes on. Pro includes an on-screen caller that keeps the called list and checks any card number for a completed line in one click.
